"elemenopee"

I remember being in preschool and having the teacher as me to slow down while saying the alphabet, and I stubbornly stuck to the idea that L M N O and P were not, in fact, separate letters.
Obviously they are just one giant, multi-purpose letter with a longer name than W.

Anywhoooo, I stumbled across this lovely MySpace-esque survey while blog-stalking the lovely and ever-laugh-inducing Rachel Rydalch, and couldn't pass up the opportunity to re-visit my early high school obsession with filling them out.

If you're already bored, feel free to pass up this chance to read 26 facts about me (it's not like I'll ever find out); if I've sparked your curiosity, there is no shame in continuing to read (again, no one will know). So here it is:

A is for age: 19 years, 7 months, 6 days and 32 minutes (at least at this moment; by the end I'll be a little older!)
B is for breakfast today: One delicious bowl of cinnamon toast crunch. It's the taste you can see!
C is for currently craving: A nice conversation with the lovely Sarah Adams. Because she always makes me smile :)
D is for dinner tonight: I honestly don't have the slightest idea.
E is for favorite type of exercise: Running! I just need to do more of it so I don't feel so lame and out of shape.
F is for an irrational fear: An elephant landing on my house. Okay, not really. But whenever someone says, "guess what!" I want to say, "OHMYGOSH did an elephant land on your house???" A) it's the first thing that comes to mind and it's really funny in my head and B) it's completely improbable and I dislike when people ask silly questions like that. I mean, how would I even begin to guess what you're going to say most of the time? There are infinite possibilities and it's just a lot of work. So just tell me what you want to tell me, okay?
Anyway......
G is for gross food: Dirt-flavored carrot and assorted fruit smoothies. Courtesy of my father. ;)
H is for hometown: Okay, here's the thing: does "hometown" = place of birth or where you grew up and have real childhood memories and all that good stuff? I can never figure that out. So... I was born in Saipan, I've lived in Spokane, Bellingham, a bunch of other places in the Seattle-ish area, Puyallup (which I actually remember) and then I guess Auburn is where I really grew up and have lots of happy memories that I will forever cherish.
I is for something important: Blankets! They are wonderful things.
J is for current favorite jam: As in... jelly with seeds and junk? Music? Because I like strawberry jam. And anything Mika at the moment.
K is for kids: They are the greatest!
L is for current location: My bed! It's very comfortable. More so than the broken computer chair. :)
M is for the most recent way you spent money: Fuel for my car. *sigh*
N is for something you need: WATER. It keeps me alive and I will always be grateful for that.
O is for occupation: Currently........... nada.
P is for pet peeve: Haha, well based on my tangent on letter F... when people use "guess what" or dramatic sighing or laughing unnecessarily loud at a text (etc....) to get you to ask what they find so exciting/amusing/shocking/sad/whatever. If you want to tell me something, JUST SAY IT.
Q is for a quote: "All I want to do is eat ice cream. Eat ice cream, pretend to be a kid, and forget about those stupid boys..." I came across this recently. Cheesy old 90s shows really had it right! ;)
R is for random fact about you: I would really, truly rather spend a night watching movies and eating food that is horrible for me with a couple people I actually care about than go out and do whatever "normal" college kids do. Call me boring but the whole partying scene isn't really my thing.
S is for favorite healthy snack: Apples and peanut butter :)
T is for favorite treat: Ice cream, no doubt about it.
U is for something that makes you unique: I have this weird scar on my leg from middle school, when I ran into a tree stump in the dark at camp. My friend and I were running from a guy dressed as Santa Clause because if he found us, we'd have to swap beads with him and wouldn't be able to get the medicine needed to save the camp mascot. It was really a matter of life and death.
V is for favorite vegetable: Broccoli, ever since I was little.
W is for today’s workout: Does walking to the mailbox count?
X is for X-rays you’ve had: The only ones I can think of are all the ones the dentist/orthodontist take.
Y is for yesterday’s highlight: The delicious dinner my wonderfully talented father prepared!
Z is for your time zone: Pacific!

Now you possibly know a little more about me!
And I have aged a total of 37 minutes since I started.
(I was interrupted by my sister somewhere around letter P).

Okay, I promise my next post will be something worth your time.
Byeee.

On the Move... Again.

In all the hustle and bustle of returning home just to pack up and head to Bellingham, I neglected to inform you lovely readers (all 4 or so of you) about my trip to Idaho.

There was a lot of time spent in the car.
Then there was the main event of the trip: my grandparents' 50th anniversary vow renewal ceremony!
You can check out pictures (taken by yours truly) at the link below, if you so choose:

After all that excitement, it was nice to have a couple days to hang out.
Chill by the pool, drink some smoothies...

...aaaand go to Silverwood!

We do love us some themepark adventuring!

Especially roller coasters.
The Aftershock (pictured above) has to be one of the greatest rides I have been on to date.

...that's Abby for ya :)

Ice cream for lunch is a must at theme parks.

That trip to Bellingham I mentioned way up ^there^?
It was to sign my apartment lease and start the moving in process.

It took a couple trips, but my roommate and I managed.

We camped out for a couple nights, considering our beds are still at home.
Haha.

This is our living room,

kitchen,

bathroom,

and current "air conditioning".
It may be a 6" fan, but it's better than nothing!

I spent a couple days there by myself, and it resulted in watching old reenactments of even older events.
And lots of reading.
No internet, no tv, no friends, no job = whattheheckdoIdo.

And that is about it.
I'm moving more stuff up this weekend, then I'll be officially living in Bham around Labor Day when my wonderful father will help me move my bed up. No more camping!

On a final parting note, sometimes I think it would be interesting to pull a Freaky Friday and be someone else for a day or two. Not like I don't like my life, it would just be nice to have a break. Literally walk in someone else's shoes.
Just a thought.

Too Old for Fairytales

Why is it that stories told in books and movies just set us up for disappointment?
Like, you watch movies/read about the perfect friendships, first loves that last forever, families that coexist with only minor flaws, heros who do extraordinary things, surpassing what anyone ever dreamed possible.

Then you look at your life and think,
"okay, so when does that actually happen?"
....it doesn't.
Yet we're still completely hooked on these concepts of what life should be.

I'm thinking maybe it's time to give all that up, because honestly I'd rather not spend my time comparing my life, full of so-called "flaws," to the fantasy worlds created by someone else. The imperfections are what keep things interesting.

(Unless I could join the wizarding world of Harry Potter. I'd be off to Hogwarts in a heartbeat.)

And that's all I have to say about that.

P.S.

This is my best friend.
She's probably the closest to perfect that I have in my life,
and I love her to pieces.
Except not literally.
That'd be bad.

summer summer summer

Is there anything better than the beach in the summer?
Sun, ocean, sand.
It really is the best thing ever.

Yesterday I went to the beach with some high school friends.
It was about 75 out, not a cloud in the sky.
Perfect weather!

Cheesin' is just what we do :)

We had the intention of just "wading in"
but the ocean had some other ideas and tricked us into getting soaked.

It was definitely one of the best moments of the day though!

'twas the perfect summer day.

Other than that, I made this cool star that can be turned into a lamp if I am motivated to do so!

And I have done random shopping that I then took pictures of because I just have that much extra time.
:P

And in light of recent happenings (aka hanging out with people from high school),
I've come to the conclusion that I very much miss moments like those featured above.
Crazy adventures with Sarah are always noteworthy.
And those that happened during class project filming.
Not to mention marching band, band/orchestra trips, "parties"....
High school seems so long ago, haha.

Okay, as a reward for making it this far through my random ramblings...
I documented my morning routine the other day.
I was bored I guess.
Anyway, I think I clean up pretty well!

Aaaaand... that's all I have to say about that.
To quote my favorite Winnie the Pooh character,
TTFN,
ta-ta-for-now!
