update on life.

There will be a lot of random things to come in this blog, so be prepared.

First of all, Rachel is a genius. Because we're going to San Francisco and feel a little guilty about spending our savings on a random trip, we decided we need to earn some extra cash. She got an offer of money to knit a guy in her building a headband, and decided to extend that offer to people around campus. We put up posts on facebook for all the campus pages and such, and crossed our fingers we'd get a couple people willing to donate to our cause. So guess what happened? We got a bunch of people interested! Being the smart people that we are, we have a spread sheet of orders including color, item, and name of the person, all organized by when they ordered. It's pretty exciting that we're raising money by knitting things for people, and by the time we're done we'll have around $300 (based on the suggested donations)! And we only spent about $20 in supplies so far, so I'm thinking we're doing pretty well :)

The first official sold item :)
I had to try it on to make sure it looked okay!

Between our new business and planning our trip, Rachel and I saw each other every day for almost 2 weeks! I'm glad we met at summerstart, she is turning out to be a really good friend :)

Also, my roommate and I had this thing about the windows. My bed was basically in front of them, and she wanted access to them. It was an issue that we kind of pushed to the back of our minds until this last week. I decided to be the best roomie ever and movie things around to give her access to the windows :)

This was before I cleaned up all my mess, haha.
For those of you who didn't see how it was before (because being the intelligent honors student I am, I forgot to take before pictures), my bed was where my desk is now, my wardrobe in the corner my bed is in, and my desk where my wardrobe is. Make sense? If not, NBD (no big deal).
You get the idea.

I also had another job interview for an afterschool nanny position! The interview went really well and the family seemed to like me. I'm hoping to hear back soon!

And finally, my weekend (because it has become tradition in these blogs!). After an average week (psych test on Monday, regular classes, Spanish test on Friday), the weekend was a nice break! Rachel and Theresa both went to the equestrian competition this weekend to show, so I hung out with Paulina! We spent Friday night watching Easy A and talking about the meaning of life and whatnot, Saturday we went to the mall and then watched Harry Potter # part 2 with her building (sitting next to a vent blowing cold air- not cool) and we had a sleepover! And today we went to brunch and then parted ways, because I actually needed to get some homework done. I spent my afternoon reading The Aeneid for honors, and now I'm blogging as I wait for Theresa to return!

This is what I had for brunch. I ordered eggs, and they gave me SO MUCH FOOD.
I couldn't finish it.
And they also had banana bread! It was a good morning. :)

I'm still loving college life, but I'm excited to go home for Thanksgiving and see family! It'll be a good break from being in Bellingham. I'm sure I'll have homework to do, so not really a break from school unfortunately.... But the quarter is almost done, the end is in sight!

I leave you with these photos of campus, taken spontaneously.
Fall is such a lovely season, even as it's slowly but surely transitioning to winter.

Oh.... P.S. I'm supposed to mention this guy, Niles. Apparently we're like, best friends now? He thinks the first time we met is worthy of a whole blog. I'm putting it in the afterthought section. That's all until later!

long weekend, lots of driving, minimal homework.

So I finally went home this weekend! But that will come later. First things first....

RACHEL AND I ARE GOING TO SAN FRANCISCO IN 3 WEEKS!!!
I'm very excited.
She sent me a text early this week asking if I wanted to go, and I said sure. And it's actually working out! We are busy planning all the details, but we officially have plane tickets and reservations for hostels. It will definitely be an adventure!

Wednesday night I spent the night at her dorm and we talked about it a little. Then I had an interview Thursday morning for a nanny position starting in February (yay!). Classes weren't too crazy this week, since midterms and all that are over. Thursday was "Friday" this week, which was exciting! I appreciate all the veterans out there :)

Thursday night began my weekend with my weekly dinner with Rachel! Then we went to a stand up comedy night at the Underground Coffeehouse. Theresa and I spent the night with Rachel again, watching movies and making brownies :) fun night!

Friday morning I drove allllll the way home. It was pouring and there was traffic, so it took about 5 hours. Worth the drive though! My brakes started making funny noises part of the way home, so I was a little worried. But we got them checked and I think they're okay. It was nice to go home and see everyone! I got a little spoiled, too, which I'm not complain about! My dad made a wonderful dinner and we went shopping. Then we went to Shari's for dessert, yummm!

Looks delish, right? It was!

Then Saturday I got a wonderful breakfast, again compliments of my dad :) I think he must love me a lot or something, haha.

Pancakes!

Of the strawberry-banana variety :)

He is the best dad EVER! <3

So yeah, I'd say my first trip home was successful. I will definitely be going back! Haha.

We're goofballs, but I love it.

True personalities shine through.....

Normal pictures? Who takes those anymore?!

I think she takes after me in the funny face department. So proud :)

We can be a little normal!

Once I got back to school, it was Yule Ball time! Well, after dinner of course. I actually went with my floor, which hasn't happened in awhile. It was nice to catch up with some people, especially Elisabeth! Which is odd, since we live across the hall from each other, haha. Anyway.....
Rachel came over to get ready with me, and we prettied up for the dance!

Me, Paula (Theresa's sister), Rachel (my bffffffff), Elisabeth (my friend across the hall), and Theresa (suitemate)!

So pretty!
Sorry these aren't edited yet.

The dance was pretty fun! Super full of nerds, which made it all the better (Yule Ball is from Harry Potter, just in case anyone didn't know!). I'm glad I went with such a good group, it made the night that much better!

Then *surprise* Rachel and I had another sleepover! Oh, and I forgot to mention that we made a pact to be nice to each other for a whole week (we both have a sarcastic sense of humor, and tend to be a little catty, so even though it's just jokingly, we're trying out being nice!). So far we have made it 4 days! But anyway, we worked on planing our trip to SF. It looks like it is going to be super fun :) And we have a budget limit as well as a running total of expenses, so we are being responsible too!

So today I have been working on catching up on homework, and have been fairly successful if I do say so myself. I'm headed back to that now actually, Aristotle is calling.....

Hasta luego!

workin' for the weekend!

...actually, I don't have a job. But I definitely did homeWORK for the weekend :P
And it was a good weekend!

I officially finished up all my midterms last week (yay!) in time to start thinking about finals (whaaaat?!). It's funny how the quarter system works that way. It keeps me busy. I also got my grades back for almost everything I've turned in/taken, and am happy with the results thus far. Keepin' up my grades so I can have something to brag about someday :)

The week was pretty boring though (see above- that's about it), the REAL fun came this weekend. I went to Auburn for the Veteran's Day parade/marching band competition, and saw SO MANY people! It was a very good trip!

It started out on Friday at 1:00pm, when I picked up Rachel and Paulina and we hit the road (but not literally, because that would be rude). We made really good time to Auburn (2 hours!), but sadly, Rachel lives in Puyallup. It took about 3 hours for me to get to Puyallup and back to Auburn. Yes, THREE. Good thing Rachel and I are such great friends! :)

When I finally made it back, I saw Paulina's family and they were kind enough to take me to dinner. Then the real adventure started. Paulina and I left to go see Paranormal Activity 3, but first we had to pick up Aldo (a guy from my AP Spanish class senior year). We were running late, so instead of the 7:45 show, we decided to go to the 8:30 one. But once we got there, guess who forgot ID?!
.......that's right, I did. So we went all the way back to Paulina's house to get it, and ended up going to a 10:00 show. We had time to kill though (all these violent sayings! We did not actually kill the time, I promise), so we sent to SUPERWalMart. Everyone knows that candy is cheaper there than at the theater! So anyway, we finally made it to the movie. It was suspenseful, but not scary until the last 10 minutes or so.

My "I just saw a scary movie" face!

After the movie I stayed with Paulina, and we had a nice long talk about life and such :) and I woke up the next morning to a cat cuddling with me! I miss my kitty.

Saturday was more eventful! I got up early-ish and went to pick up my favorite little munchkins :) I'm so glad they still remember me! I took them to the parade where I met up with some other people my age, and it was fun. The part that weirded me out was that it was...... sunny. Haha.

Aren't they adorable?! Someone thought they were mine though.... definitely not.

After the parade I took the girls home, and then Adrienne, Sam and I ran to the competition and ALMOST didn't make it! We cut things close a lot that day, haha. But we saw the band perform and they were WONDERFUL. It made me miss being on the field with them. We got to hang out with all the band kids afterwards and watched more bands and all that good stuff.  It was really good to see all of them again!

Sam, Adrienne and I watching bands :)

At the park! We are such good friends :P

"The Gang"

Leaf mustache, it's the new thing.

Watching bands :)

Katieee! I missed this girl :)

After we left the competition (the band placed 2nd, the guard 1st (whoot, I trained them well! haha), and got best general effect! So proud), Adrienne, Aldo, Paulina, Sam, Stephen and I went to ice cream, which was also fun. I stayed the night at Sam's house- I'm so lucky to have friends who are willing to let me stay with them!

So today I got up and got ready, and here is the most dramatic part of my weekend- I couldn't find my license. I was supposed to take my friend to get a lotto ticket (he just turned 18), but I didn't end up doing that because I had to go on a hunt for my license. Needless to say, I felt bad about that. Anyway, I called Paulina to ask her, I went to the theater to see if they found it (and the lady was MEAN) and I freaked out all morning. Then I finally found it.
.....in my backpack. Darn Socrates (the book) was hiding it. I'm glad I found it, but I still feel silly.

After all that excitement, I met Rachel and we headed back to our lovely town of Bellingham.
Then end :)
